Now first of all I want to make it clear that I have not been guilty of this. I play by the rules. However Twitter has been going crazy over this topic. Lots of big names are talking about who misuses categories, who is going to stop doing it, who is going to continue. So lets clear this up. What I am talking about is some large YouTube partners who place their videos in say the Pets and Animals Category just so their video will be number 1 on that chart. Even if they don’t show any animals in their videos. Others do the same with Travel and Events, as well as Science and Technology. It is not fair to those who specialize in those categories to get bumped off the list by those who already get high views as it is. Now yes YouTube is a business I understand that, but YouTube started cracking down on the thumbnails a few weeks ago and now several of the big infringers have straightened up. Now lets put the pressure on to get people to chose the right category for their videos. Things such as comedy and education as well as News are grey areas but clearly if you put your videos in the Pets and Animals section it clearly should have pets and animals in there. Furthermore, if you see a video that is clearly trying to cheat the system don’t be afraid to call them out on it. What are your thoughts, video responses are set to automatic approval. What other YouTube partners would you like to see take the pledge The debate is on twitter right now as it has been all day, follow me on …

In the last thirty years global demand for food has doubled. In a race to feed the planet, scientists have discovered how to manipulate DNA, the blueprint of life, and produce what they claim are stronger, more disease-resistant crops. However, fears that Genetically Modified Food may not be safe for humans or the environment has sparked violent protest. Are we participating in a dangerous global nutritional experiment? This informative film helps the viewer decide if the production of genetically modified food is a panacea for world hunger or a global poison.
Science has yet to invent a time machine, but walk into 726 St. Peter St. in New Orleans’ French Quarter any night of the week and you may feel like you’ve stumbled into one anyway. Since the early 1960s, Preservation Hall has served as a haven for musicians familiar with traditional New Orleans jazz. As the clip above suggests, it’s a cant-miss stop for any visitor to New Orleans, and not just for historical value. The Jaffee family—first founders Allan and Sandra and now their son Ben—set out to provide a venue for veteran players. They succeeded and then some: Preservation Hall has played a key role in passing traditional sounds from one generation to the next. In the second season of Treme, Delmont Lambreaux, the New Orleans-born jazz trumpeter played by Rob Brown, gets in an argument with some New York players who look down their nose at Preservation Hall as an artifact of another time that appeals only to tourists. They’d clearly never been there. Though grounded in past forms, the playing at Preservation Hall remains vital and spirited. It’s hard to sound stodgy when you’re playing music that depends on improvisation. Heard live, it doesn’t sound the least bit old fashioned, and since traditional jazz’s influence has seeped into virtually every musical style that emerged in New Orleans since its heyday, it doesn’t sound the least bit distant.
